Bed and breakfast guests
During your stay you can also have a relaxing
massage or experience a Bowen Therapy treatment which can start to remedy that long standing condition, maybe a frozen shoulder from too many of life’s burdens! Both are offered at a discounted rate to bed and breakfast guests.
Feedback from clients
The following comments are taken from letters received from my clients:
“the elbow was extremely painful and I had difficulty in straightening it. After the one Bowen treatment it improved considerably and within a few days I regained complete use of my right arm.”
John J
“after my treatment my shoulder has stopped aching completely.”
Louise D
“I had had sciatica for six months, the improvement in the condition began after the first treatment and at the end of four treatments I was pain free and [after six months] have had no recurrence of the condition.”
Paul G
“you concentrated on my back, neck and shoulders as I get stiffness and pain in those areas. The day after the session I was aware that I felt ëwellí, and four weeks later, I can tell you that the pain and stiffness have not returned.”
Fe R
“I have had problems with my sinuses for some time and latterly my right ear had become painful. I was reluctant to take powerful decongestantsÖ after my first Bowen Technique session there was a marked improvement in the condition and after the second the symptoms disappeared.”

The Bowen Technique
What is Bowen?
Developed in Australia by Tom Bowen in the second half of the twentieth century, it is one of the ‘light touch’ therapies. It involves no massage, manipulation or firm pressure, just a series of gentle moves, usually with the thumb and finger, across muscles or tendons, for example either side of the spine.
It can be done through light clothing and the whole procedure is very relaxing.
What conditions can be treated?
As the process helps the body to rebalance itself, the Technique does not focus on specific conditions. In this way many improvements can be achieved in areas that were thought to be a problem as well as some that one had forgotten about!
Through observation, questioning and touch I will determine which moves could be most beneficial to you. For example you may arrive with a lower back problem which could be treated using moves on the hip, pelvis and legs as well as the back.
A long list of conditions have responded well to Bowen, they include sinus and respiratory problems, sciatic pain, back, neck and knee problems, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and sports injuries.
What happens during a treatment?
Having noted your history and any specific symptoms you would lie on your front with your head on one side on the therapy table.
Typically I would begin with two small moves either side of your lower spine. The pattern of moves will vary, they are interspersed with short breaks during which I leave the room to allow your body to begin its work.
Once the movements are complete on your back you will be asked to turn over for a further few movements on your front.
A treatment can last up to an hour. If you are used to massage or other more physical treatments it may seem that I have done very little, however, the resulting effect can be very powerful, responses vary from person to person.

How much does Bowen Therapy cost?
A single treatment usually costs £28, but typically three treatments 5 to 10 days apart may be required, for which I would charge £72 when booked at the same time. Concessionary rates available.
